IP Checker

Remotely controlling your office computer (from home or another office) is a great way to get that extra flexibilty in your schedule. However, today's ISPs only offer dynamic internet addresses (IP address) which can make it hard to connect to your computer remotely. The solution, for most of our clients, is to ask somebody at the office to log on their computer and check what IP address it's using at that time... Not very practical and not very 21st century either!

One alternative is to setup a VPN connection to your office but with the extra setup and added hardware costs, that's only justified if (a) you also need to browse files remotely or (b) you have several users connecting to several computers.

Another solution is to use a dynamic DNS service, but DNS updates can take up to 24 hrs to replicate across the internet, making the system very slow to react to changes (we've seen ISP change their client's addresses every hour!).

We have the solution! Instead of having a person telling you what IP address is in use, why not let the computer itself tell you!

In order for this to work, we just need to install a small program on your computer (the one you want to remote-control). We will also need to register your computer name (for security reasons). Then all you'll need to do is come back to this page and enter your computer name for our system to show you which IP address it is at.
